BodyTite vs Liposuction: Learn The Difference

If you’ve been researching fat reduction procedures, you’ve likely come across liposuction as an option. Liposuction, or “lipo,” is one of the most well-known procedures for weight loss. But, during your research, did you notice a new option for fat removal? BodyTite is one of the newest technologies for aesthetic fat removal, and it’s emerging as the preferred choice of patients and health professionals alike. But, what’s the difference between BodyTite and lipo? And which one is the better for you? Below, we’ll explain BodyTite vs liposuction and how the procedures differ.

BodyTite vs Liposuction Fat Reduction Process Differences

Traditional liposuction is an aesthetic procedure that breaks up and removes fat cells from targeted areas of your body. It works by inserting a small tube—which is about the size of the tip of a pen—underneath the skin. A laser then delivers energy to the fat cells, causing them to break apart. The fat is then gently suctioned out.

BodyTite reduces fat in a very similar fashion. The difference is the type of energy used to break down the fat cells. BodyTite doesn’t use a laser—it uses Radio-Frequency Assisted Liposuction (RFAL) to melt fat cells. But, BodyTite’s real benefits lie in what happens to the skin during the treatment.

Skin Tightening Benefits

BodyTite uses the radio-frequency energy to tighten the skin during the procedure. Traditional liposuction does not have any skin tightening benefits. Oftentimes, this results in sagging skin after the procedure. In addition to tightening skin while simultaneously reducing fat, BodyTite can also help improve skin laxity after excessive weight loss or due to aging. In short, BodyTite patients see 40% firmer, more toned results compared to traditional lipo.

BodyTite vs Liposuction Procedure Differences

BodyTite is less-invasive than traditional lipo. Whereas lipo requires general anesthesia, BodyTite usually only requires local anesthesia. BodyTite can be done in one 15-30 minute treatment, while lipo operations take between one and four hours to complete.

Recovery and Downtime

BodyTite leaves minimal scars, if any, that fade with time, while lipo can result in larger scars. Because of the amount of invasiveness involved in each procedure, the surgical trauma and recovery times also differ. Lipo generally results in uncomfortable bruising and swelling to the area, some of which is deep tissue bruising that can last weeks. While BodyTite patients may still experience bruising and swelling, the level of discomfort is greatly reduced.

Downtime for traditional lipo is about 7-14 days, and the recovery time can be quite lengthy.  You also may wear a compression garment for up to 6 weeks. On the other hand, most BodyTite patients only have 2-3 days of downtime and achieve full recovery within a couple of days. A compression garment may also have to be worn with BodyTite, but it can typically be removed after about 2 weeks.

Post-Procedure Results

Keep in mind that with any procedure, results will vary from patient to patient. For traditional liposuction, patients often notice results in about 3-9 months and notice the best results after one year. BodyTite patients usually see results immediately after the procedure, with the best results noticeable after 6 months.
